The Ocean Hotel, in its semi-tropical, palm fringed gardens, sits between the Esplanade and the High Street.

The great sweep of Sandown Bay, with its miles of sandy “Blue Flag” beach, lies in front of the hotel and its gardens.

The blue mosaic outdoor heated swimming pool, in a secluded area of the garden, is surrounded by mature shrubs and terracotta pots of Mediterranean flowers and provides an attractive area for all. A children’s pool is tucked into a corner of the garden.

Ocean’s style is a happy mix of Victorian sea-side architecture, with a light and airy “feel” and contemporary design in the bright sea-facing dining-room and comfortable lounges (with open fires in autumn and winter), Colonial bar and dance floor, cosy en suite bedrooms, many overlooking the gardens and sea.

This is a classic, understated and relaxed hotel which has been run by the Conway
