Isle of Wight Walks

Shortlist

Walking Holidays & Self Guided Walks

Our walking breaks and holidays as featured in the Sunday Express S magazine on 4th April 2010 normally run from September to March.  Our aim is to 'tailor make' the breaks to suit guests requirements.  We can do full weeks, long weekends or mid-week breaks.

The number of walks, and the length of walk will be entirely up to you. We have numerous routes from 3 miles to 16 miles (flat or hilly).

The Island has a concentration of diverse landscapes, coastal paths, rolling downs, woodland walks, estuaries, quaint villages and quiet lanes combined with a wealth of historical sites, and all in an area of just 127 square miles!  Distances are large enough to provide a challenge, and, even a short walk never lacks variety. This manageable scale combined with 500 miles of well maintained footpaths make the Isle of Wight a rambler's paradise.

With an enviable sunshine record and fresh air that Alfred Lord Tennyson declared to be worth 'sixpence a pint' the Isle of Wight beckons all lovers of unspoiled countryside and bracing coastline.

For both the guided and self guided walker Clevelands Country House in the quiet Village of Wroxall provides the ideal base with the Worsley Trail passing just yards from the doorstep and numerous other walks radiating up onto the surrounding Downs.

Guided Walks

We cater for groups of 2, 4, 6, or 8 (8 max). We have put together a series of, what we consider, to be the very best walks on the island.

Each day there are 3 options, the longer walks are between 10 miles and 16 miles, the shorter walks between 7 miles and 9 miles, or simple take a day off to explore the Island at your leisure.

Some of the walks start from the doorstep and others we travel by bus to and from the start/finish of the walk, as well as being the 'green' option the top deck of a double- decker is a fantastic way to see the island!

The table below shows a typical programme for the week, we pass many of the islands historical sites which can be viewed for free, and, if time permits others such as Carisbrooke Castle, Yarmouth Castle, The Old Battery, Bembridge Windmill, Brading Roman Villa and many more can be visited. (Entrance fees not included).

For the independent 'self guided walker' we have put together a series of walks complete with maps and detailed instructions ranging from 3 miles to 16 miles and to suit all capabilities.

We can cater for groups of 2, 4, 6, or 8. (8 max).
